DITR: Isaiah Morgan (Gulfport High School, Gulfport, Mississippi)

Our newest Diamond in the Rough is Isaiah Morgan, a class of 2024 Center out of Gulfport High School. Isaiah is 6’2 285 LBS and runs a 5.0 40 yard dash, benches 275 LBS, squats 500 LBS, deadlifts 500 LBS, and power cleans 300 LBS. Morgan has a 3.01 GPA in the classroom. Last season he allowed 0 sacks while in pass protection, he has also been selected 1st Team All-Region in the last 2 seasons.

When did you start playing football?

“I started playing football when I was 6 years old.”

What is your favorite thing about football?

“I love the contact and intensity that comes with playing the game of football.”

What is the hardest part about football?

“Keeping a positive mindset when things aren’t going right in the game or during the season.”

What is something you have learned by playing football?

“You need to keep your head up when things are not going right and when things are going smooth, it is important to bring out leadership when everyone needs it.”

Do you play any other sports?

“Not currently, but I played basketball when I was a freshmen.”

Who is your favorite College Football Team?

“I love LSU, I also like Ohio State and Oregon.

Who is your favorite NFL Team?

“My favorite NFL Team is the New Orleans Saints.”

Who is your biggest role model?

“My Uncle, he is such a hard worker and has been a huge supporter of my dreams.”

Do you have any players that you like to watch and emulate your game after?

“Right now I think that player would have to be Jason Kelce.”

How do you balance school and football?

“I just remind myself that I am a student athlete, I get my schoolwork done first before football. I even have a job so once I get done with school I go to work.”

Do you have any goals for the upcoming season?

“I want to go to and win a state championship, I also want to just get better everyday during the process.”

How do you prepare for a game?

“I like to sit on the quiet bus and listen to music, I really try to zone out until it is time to get to work and play football.”

What is your best skillset as a player?

“My ability to ID fronts, I pick up linebackers well, and I am great at finishing blocks.”

What does it mean to be a good teammate?

“It means encouraging teammates when they are down or when they aren’t, trying to keep it positive at all times.”

How does your team as a whole reach the goals set for next season?

“Really I think all we need to do is stay disciplined and keep a level head through everything.”
