We would like to welcome our next Diamond In The Rough out of Albany High School, Jayden Lapine. Lapine is a 2027 Defensive Back who stole the spotlight at the Live Oak Elite Camp on February 14th and at Breaux Bridge on February 28th. During the Live Oak camp, he had the fastest 40 of the camp with a 4.56 and the fastest shuttle with a 4.31. He followed it up with a 4.59 40 and a 4.44 shuttle at Breaux Bridge. His broad jump went from 8.3 at Live Oak to 9.1 at Breaux Bridge, and he was accepted into the 2026 Gridiron All-American Bowl Game after that.

“Both camps were great experiences and I would definetly come to more.”
Lapine stands at only 5’8 and 140 pounds, but he is fast, has great technique, and is quick to the ball. His clips in this video are at 0:31, 1:24, 2:16, and 3:24.
Here is my interview with Jayden Lapine:
What has your football journey been like? At what age did you start playing football, and what inspired you to play football?
I started at about 10 years old, I just wanted to try out the sport and I fell in love with it and I was good at it too so I just kept playing.
Do you play any other positions besides DB?
Yes. They got me at running back this year and a bit of slot receiver as well.
So you’re going to be a lot more versatile this year, right?
Yes, and I also play a lot of special teams as well.
What was the camp experience like? What did you like about them and what did you learn the most?
What I learned was, working on and getting better at my techniques and just having fun and playing with confidence.
What is it like playing with other players you have never seen before?
Yeah, it was great to get some new competition, see where I’m at and bond with new players. It was great.
What does your preparation on gameday look like? Do you have any routines, rituals, or anything like that?
I eat lunch or pregame meals with the team, and I’ll go back to the locker room and try to take a nap. I really try to lock in and right before getting dressed, I’ll say a prare. Pray for me and my team and hope we do well.
As you have gone through high school, what are some of the toughest challenges that you have had to endure over the years?
Probably weight, size in terms of not being the tallest.
You are very fast, but how else do you use your size to your advantage?
Since I am smaller, it is easier for me to make tackles because I can go low and bring down guys that are bigger than me a lot easier than others.
You still have a year to go, but what do you hope people say about you as a player and person once you complete high school?
That he gave it a hundred percent, that he was willing to do anything for his team, leave it all out on the field, and that he was a great athlete.
You impressed a lot of people at the camps, and how excited are you that you got invited to the Gridiron All-American Bowl Game?
I’m very excited that I worked hard enough to get this opportunity and I can not wait for it. Excited to get my name out there and compete with some of the best players in Louisiana and around the area.
Do you plan to attend more camps this year?
Yeah I was going to go to the Lake Charles one but I had a back injury so I sat out that. I definetly plan to go to the one coming to our school and I plan to go to a lot of them.
Is there a specific college or colleges you want to play for?
To be honest, no, I just want to go somewhere where I can have an early start, play when I get there and find a program that wants me the most
