Diamond In The Rough: Quency Wiggins

Quency Wiggins is a class of 2022 defensive end out of Madison Preparatory Academy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is 6’7″ and weighs 270 pounds. Wiggins is long, athletic, and an excellent run defender. His quickness coming off the edge, along with his length, causes problems for opposing quarterbacks. He holds a 3.0 GPA and is also on the Basketball team at Madison Prep.

When did you start playing football and what motivated you to play?

I have been playing since I was five years old. In 9th grade, I started playing basketball. Once I realized it wasn’t working out as well, I turned back to football this year. I was already getting attention in football while playing basketball.

What’s your favorite thing about your position?

I love that I get to sack the quarterback.

How do you feel like the season is going so far for Madison Prep? Are there any specific goals you are trying to reach?

I want to get All-State recognition as this is my first year back. This season is going good so far for my team, we are 4-0.

How do you think your coaches and teammates would describe you?

They would say I am a leader and a team player.

What has football taught you about yourself?

Football has taught me that I have a lot of aggression of in. It didn’t really come out until I started playing football.

What’s your favorite thing about playing football in Louisiana?

I love how competitive it is down here. Everybody wants to win and be the best.

What would you tell younger players who want to play high school football one day?

I would tell them that you can achieve anything. You just have to put the work in.

Are there any college or NFL athletes that you look up to or try to model your play style after?

I watch a lot of Myles Garrett and Chase Young.

Three words to describe yourself?

I am respectful, a leader, and caring.

What hobbies are you involved in besides sports?

I play video games and watch movies with my mother.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself at a top college, dominating the game. I also see myself making my family proud.

What would you say are some of your strengths on the field?

I would say my presence is always known. I make a lot of plays. I would saying pressuring the quarterback is my biggest strength.

What is one thing could you not go a day without?

I can not go a day without talking to my mother. I talk to her everyday.
