Diamond in the Rough: Caleb Arceneaux

Caleb Arceneaux is a linebacker from Acadiana High School in Lafayette, La. The 2021 recruit stands at an eyelash under six foot and weighs in at 206 pounds. In his junior season, Arceneaux had over 105 tackles and 12 TFLs including two sacks. As well as posting two interceptions. This young man has a 275 pound max on bench press, 495 pound squat, and 265 pound clean. Caleb currently has a 2.5 GPA and is awaiting to take the ACT. Arceneaux is also the nephew of former LSU great wide receiver Josh Reed.

When did you start playing football?

When I was around eight or nine, for the Rayne Raiders, it was like rec league football.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I played basketball, and started playing that when I was in middle school.

Were you always linebacker or did you play any other positions?

I played running back my freshman and a little bit my sophomore year, then I moved over to linebacker during my sophomore year. We needed a linebacker, my coach asked me if I would move over and I did.

What do you love about playing linebacker?

I can use my speed, that I can be physical on the field.

Looking back this season, what were some of your personal goals?

To get at least over 100 tackles and 10 tackles for loss, and more than one pick. I ended up having 106 tackles, 12 TFLs and 2 interceptions.

Who would you say are some of your biggest influences?

My dad, and my uncle, Josh Reed. My dad keeps me grounded, he tells me things about day to day. Just hearing him out, he pushes me every day to be the best and to get the best out of me. My uncle he pretty much does the same exact thing, he just went a little further than my father did.

So this brings me to my next question, which I think I know the answer to, who is your favorite NFL player?

Of course my uncle, Josh Reed.

What motivates you the most?

I just love the game of football. I’ve really just always had a drive for it. Since the beginning I’ve always had a love with it. Of course my dad and my uncle, when they played. I love the physicality that you have to go through on the field.

At the end of this coming year, what would you want your coaches and teammates to say about you?

That I am a hard worker. That he is a leader on the field. That I am a football player.

On a scale of 1 to 10, on Game Day, what would be your ideal performance number?

About an 8 or 9. I am just ready for Saturday’s game. I’ve been watching film, I just want to make sure I know where I need to be. When it comes to that time, and I get my read, I’m there where I need to be.
