D.I.T.R: Javaris Livingston

Javaris Livingston is a 5’9″ 150 lb Wide Receiver and Cornerback for the Billingsley Bears from Billingsley, Alabama. Javaris is a great playmaker who the coaches felt should play a lot more on the defensive end later in the season. Javaris is a very shifty player who can take any catch or hand-off to the house. He is also a very special returner who can make magic with all the space on return opportunities. Javaris does not have much film as he only played in 4 games last year after hurting himself, but in his tape you can see some of his home-run ability. Check out our Q&A below!

Can you tell us your name and position on the football team?

Javaris Livingston, Wide Receiver and Cornerback.

What made you decide to play football in high school?

To keep myself busy and keep myself from getting into trouble.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced on the field?

The biggest challenge on the field is giving your all to the game and giving your best efforts.

How do you motivate yourself when things get tough during a game?

My mom who passed away always keeps me going no matter how tough things can get during a game.

What do you think sets you apart from other players on your team?

I refuse to give up and stay motivated. I like keeping a positive mind and pushing my teammates forward, especially when they make a mistake during the game.

Can you talk about a moment in your football career that you’re particularly proud of?

Going on the field and not being shy is a proud moment for myself. I would consider myself an introvert and I do not like big crowds of people, so being able to tune this out during a football game makes me proud.

How do you handle the pressure of being an important player on the team?

Being calm and patient about how to handle situations when they arise is very important to handling pressure. If you are not calm and patient then it would be hard to address tough situations.

How do you balance football and your academic studies?

Education comes first and without education you really wouldn’t know anything. If you don’t know how to apply what you know and learn to football then you won’t be a very smart player. So academics always comes first.

What have you learned about teamwork through playing football?

You need your teammates because football is all about a team effort. Without your team then you will not be able to be successful without them. If you keep them motivated then they will always have your back and keep pushing forward.

Can you describe your pre-game ritual or superstitions?

First thing I do before every game is Pray. Without God, we could do nothing with football.

Who is your biggest inspiration or role model in the sport of football?

I like to watch CeeDee Lamb. I look up to him because he has been through a lot since he was a child. CeeDee talks in interviews about him growing up in the hood and I feel that I can relate to his story very much.

How do you stay physically and mentally prepared for each game?

I like to keep myself in shape and be prepared for what will happen. I like to be calm before a game and prepare myself for all the things that can happen during a game.

What are your goals for the future, both on and off the field?

On the field, I want to win. Winning the games on the field feels so good and these are my goals for the future. Off the field, I have played football for all my life so it would be very difficult to talk about that goal. However, I would love to go to Oklahoma University and play ball there.

What advice would you give to young aspiring football players?

Keep your mind motivated and never give up. If you want to do something then you can do it. It does not matter what a person tells you, if you believe it then you can do it.

What do you hope to achieve with your football career in the future?

In life, I want my football career to help me to stay motivated and never stop grinding. Always keeping a positive mind and not thinking about the negative is very important for football and the life afterwards.
