It was a casual night in memorial stadium in which Zachary started the game off with the ball at their own 20 yard line due to a touchback on the kickoff. They would begin the game in the air, passing the ball to receiver Trikoby Rheams who would get them a first down. After this, they would throw short passes for short gains that would end them up in a 3rd down scenario. This would wind up in a punt due to a big tackle from Catholic’s John Russel-Demoss and Harrison Kidder. However, the attempted punt would wind up blocked by Harrison Kidder giving Catholic the ball at their own 40 yard line. Catholic quickly takes advantage of this field position with a touchdown run by quarterback Baylor Graves giving them an early 7-0 lead.
For the start of Zachary’s drive they would continue their passing game going opting to Ethan Kimmie this time for a 20+ yard gain. They would then switch to running the ball to Tylek Lewis who would give them another set of downs. Zachary would wind up stopped though as their run game is unable to pick up a first down forcing them to bring out the field goal team despite having scoring position. To compound unto the negatives for Zachary this drive the field goal bounces off the uprights ending this drive in no points and a turnover on downs. With the ball around midfield Catholic looked to throw the ball this drive with a pass to Dyer Chambers that would gain them around 20 yards. Catholic would then follow this up with another pass, this time to tight end Jude Chamberlain who scores a touchdown giving Catholic a 14-0 lead at the start of the second quarter.
Zachary starts their next drive continuing their passing success with Trikoby Rheams and Ethan Kimmie driving them down the field. They would finally get on the board with this drive on a run by Tylek Lewis making this a one score game with Catholic leading 14-7. Catholic has a big return in response reaching all the way to their own 45 yard line. This would be the only positive gain for Catholic this drive however, as they would lose 10 yards on a penalty that puts them at too much of a deficit forcing them to punt the ball away. Zachary receives the ball and continues to pass more to Ethan Kimmie who would gain them 9 yards. Catholic begins to read to Zachary’s pass heavy offense this drive with DB Blaine Bradford coming up with a big interception that would give the ball back to Catholic at their own 29. Catholic would quickly score on a fourth down run by Jayden Miles putting them up 21-7 over Zachary. Catholic would continue to compound unto this lead as well as on the first play of Zachary’s drive their is a fumble that is recoverd by John Russel-Demoss for a scoop and score touchdown making the score 28-7 now. Zachary, is shaken up by this with their offense struggling more in the upcoming drive only picking up one first down. After they get this first down they attempt to continue their passing-heavy offense but get careless and throw an interception to John Russel-Demoss who scores his second touchdown on a pick six. This pick six gives Catholic a 34-7 lead over Zachary closing out the first half.
Catholic starts the second half off firing with a run by Jayden Miles that would gain them 50 yards. After this run Catholic meets some resistance by Zachary’s defense with Justin Batiste having to pick up a big first on a fourth down in the red zone. After this, Jayden Miles would run the ball again scoring a touchdown and giving Catholic a 41-7 lead. This is what the final score ends up being as both teams substitute their backups in and run the clock out over the rest of the second half. With this win Catholic has an undefeated 5-0 record in their divisional games and they will without a doubt be a proper contender for the upcoming playoffs.
