St. Michael High School (Baton Rouge, LA) WR Johnny McCarty has committed to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will take place on Tuesday, December 30th at Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, Louisiana.
At 6’0, 200 pounds, McCarty is a big receiver that is a precise route runner with great hands and is absolutely dangerous in making plays after the catch. As a four year letter winner, McCarty had a breakout season last year for the Warriors making 1st Team All-District, All-Metro, and was also an honorable mention All-State selection with 50 catches for 764 yards and eight touchdown grabs.
Not only does McCarty play offense for the Warriors, but he is also one of their best defensive players on that side of the football as a defensive back. Gridiron Football Chief Operating Officer Marcus Randall has kept up with Johnny McCarty not only throughout his prep career, but on the 7v7 circuit with K.R.E.A.M.
“I got to see Johnny play in our 7v7 tournament with K.R.E.A.M. At St. Michael, they don’t throw it a whole bunch, but you don’t get to see how dynamic he really is. When I had the chance to see him at multiple tournaments, he was making all kind of catches.”

Rated as a four star receiver by Gridiron Football, McCarty’s dynamic playmaking ability along with a 3.2 GPA has attracted many interests including two college offers from Ave Maria University and Culver Stockton College.
Heading into this season, one of McCarty’s goals was to get an opportunity to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game and his goal was accomplished when he received his official invite after being named as one of our offseason Elite Camp’s top performers.
“It means a lot to be honest. I’ve been really looking forward to this since my freshman year when a few seniors at the time got invited to it. It caught my eye and has been something that I’ve watched grow and grow for me too.”
