Madison Prep Academy (Baton Rouge, LA) DE/LB Ryan Variste has committed to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will take place on Tuesday, December 30th at Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, Louisiana.
Coming off the edge, Variste has been a force to be reckoned with regardless of which offense he has lined across. Even the best of the best the state has to offer has had problems trying to block him one on one. The 6’2, 225 pound edge rusher has become the perfect example of the type of players Landry Williams has developed in his program.
Setting the example on and off the field, Variste has been productive as a two time All-District selection and has been a constant team leader as a three time team captain. Coming off a 1st Team All-District season, Variste finished the 2025 season by leading the Chargers to the Quarterfinals with 50 tackles (40 solo), 10.5 sacks, 13 TFLs, 2 FFs, and scoring 1 defensive touchdown. Being a versatile defender that can rush the passer as good as he can play the run makes him another Charger that definitely can play football at the next level.
“Ryan Variste has been on the team for four years and has been working his tail off. He is a solid student in the classroom. He is the definition of a student athlete. He is a leader on and off the field, a monster on the field, and just pushes his teammates to be the best that they can be. I have been Ryan since middle school so to have him for his senior year, that is a testament to what hard work and dedication can get you. I look forward to him playing on Saturdays.”

With a 3.5 GPA in the classroom combined with his ability on the football field, Variste has received offers from Millikin University, Millsaps, Louisiana Christian University, and Lafayette Christian University. Rated as a three-star prospect by Gridiron Football, Variste earned an offer to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game after being named a Top Camp Performer at our Elite Camp Series this offseason at Lamar Dixon Expo Center. He is excited to have another opportunity to showcase his skills in front of college coaches.
“I am excited to have just one more game to give it my all and just to experience that high school feeling one last time.”
