Glen Oaks High School (Baton Rouge, LA) LB Alijah Banks has committed to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.
A versatile leader for Anthony Jones’ Panthers team, Banks has been very productive wherever he has lined up as he has been an All-District performer not only on defense, but on offense as well. Last season, Banks made 1st Team All-District as a defensive end and 2nd Team All-District at tight end and those aren’t even his natural positions.
At 5’11, 200 pounds, Banks has moved from defensive end to linebacker as a captain of the Panthers’ defense in his third year as a starter. His head coach Anthony Jones has seen Banks progress over the years and has been most proud of his overall growth and just his buy in with the program to go along with a 3.0 GPA in the classroom.
Rated as a three star linebacker by Gridiron Football, Glen Oak alum and Gridiron Football talent evaluator Marcus Randall has also seen what Banks can do.
“Alijah has played on our 7v7 team. I’ve been knowing Alijah Banks for a long time. Seeing him play and seeing him grow has been great to see. He actually did it on both sides of the ball last year offensively and defensively because of the low numbers Glen Oaks has. He’s a guy that has made a lot of different plays from the inside linebacker to the outside linebacker and is a guy that is all over the field making plays.”
Gridiron Football Chief Operating Officer and former LSU QB Marcus Randall
As well as making 1st Team All-State this season, another goal that Banks wanted to accomplish was to receive an offer to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will be played this year at Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, Louisiana on Tuesday, December 30th and he got his wish when he was surprised with an offer to play in the bowl game before the season at our Gridiron Football Media Days.
“It means a lot to me. It means that all the hard work that I’ve put in the last four years is going to pay off. It’s another chance to play another down.”
