BREAKING NEWS: Ascension Catholic High School (Donaldsonville, LA) RB Trevin Simon Commits To 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game

A Louisiana record setting running back has committed to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game and that is Ascension Catholic High School (Donaldsonville, LA) RB Trevin Simon, who will be one of the many players showcasing their talents on Tuesday, December 30th at Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, Louisiana.

When the Ascension Catholic Bulldogs had to replace former Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game running back Chad Elzy, there were a lot of people wondering who was going to be able to fill in those big shoes. Well, that answer came in the form of Trevin Simon and not only was that question answered, but perhaps, the position was even upgraded this season.

Louisiana has been known for producing plenty of talent at the running back position over the years, but no running back has run for more yards and more touchdowns in a single season than Simon. Week in and week out, the Bulldogs record setting running back was putting up video game numbers on a consistent basis. The bell cow of the Ascension Catholic ground attack ran for a spectacular 3,915 yards and 58 touchdowns this season. While those numbers were certainly impressive, it is his consistency and durability that makes that record even more impressive as he carried those numbers all the way to the Superdome where he led the Bulldogs under a first-year head football coach to the Division IV Select State Championship Game.

“I don’t think anybody would have thought that he would put numbers like this. When you start looking at all-time single season records in Louisiana, that is rare air. Obviously, we are super excited for Trevin and the work that he has put in to get here. Sometimes, you have to pinch yourself to see what he is doing. He’s having a great year and could not be more happy or proud of him.”

The 1st Team All-District, Offensive MVP, and soon to be named All-State running back can’t believe the season he has had himself.

“Honestly, I had no idea this year would go like this. I didn’t expect to break any records since it was a first time position.”

Simon was also doing this while playing on the defensive side of the football as well. One of the most noteworthy performances he had was when he ran for 369 yards and six touchdowns in a semifinal game to help send the Bulldogs to the championship game. Currently, Simon has received three collegiate offers from the University of Rio Grande, Minnesota West, and Kansas Weleyan University.

Trevin Simon is looking forward to putting a cherry on top on what is a season to remember with hopefully another memorable performance in this year’s All-Star game.

“It’s another game added to the schedule and one more memory to make. I am really thankful for having the opportunity to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.”
