We have rising junior Daniel Gutierrez better known as Danny out of Oro Grande, California. A 5’8 150lb QB with a 3.8 GPA ending the season with 1,182 passing yards, 22 total touchdowns, 6 rushing touchdowns, .517 completion rating, and has a 60.6 QB rating. On top of not only being the starting quarterback he also plays baseball at center field with a 485. batting average, .600 on base percentage, having 21 hits and 9 stolen bases. What has football taught you that you think will help you most in college life?
What football has taught me that will help you most in my college life is dedication knowing that I was dedicated to football I was able to be dedicated to my school too.
Are you planning to play football in college, or focus more on academics?
I planned to play football or baseball but also to focus on the academics parts of college to better my future.
What are you most excited about for college and what are you nervous about?
I’m most excited for the atmosphere and the culture something I’m nervous about is being overwhelmed with too much work and stress.
Who pushed you the most to become the player (and person) you are today?
The person who pushed to become the player and person I am today is my dad and I am grateful for all he does because without him I wouldn’t be able to do things I would want to do.
What’s one lesson a younger teammate could learn from your journey?
Be dedicated to your sport and school because if you are not putting the same amount of hours your sport and school is giving you then you won’t see the success you need.
How do you stay motivated when practices or games get tough?
When things get tough I stay focused because I have to be a leader and for my team I will be there to pick them up and hold people accountable.
What goals are you setting for yourself your first year of college?
My first year of college I want to keep my grades up by staying organized and building good study habits.
If you could replay one game or moment from high school football, what would it be and why?
If I could replay one game it would be when we played Webb High School it was our first league game and they were 5-0 and we proceeded to play our heart out and give them their first lost the atmosphere of that game was wild and i’ll never forget it.
How has balancing school, football, and life shaped your time management?
Balancing school, football, and life has taught me strong time management and discipline. I’ve learned to prioritize and avoid procrastination. Overall, it’s made me more organized and responsible.
What kind of legacy do you hope you’re leaving behind on your team?
I hope to leave a legacy of hard work, leadership, and being a dependable teammate. I want to be remembered as someone who always gave full effort and pushed others to be better.
Outside of football, what are you hoping to discover or try in college?
Outside of football, I want to explore new interests and figure out what I’m really passionate about. I’m hoping to try new classes, join different clubs, and meet new people.
Five years from now, where do you hope football and your education have taken you?
Five years from now, I hope football has helped me grow and possibly given me the chance to I also want my education to have led me to a solid degree and career path.

I gotta get 4×4 from in n out.
The first thing you’re doing when you move into your dorm?
I’m probably going to my room organizing and setting everything up.
If football didn’t exist, what sport do you think you’d be good at?
Well baseball because it’s my second sport
I’m handling the balance by staying organized and managing my time well.
I make sure school comes first while still giving full effort to football. It’s helped me stay disciplined and focused on both.
What’s been the toughest part of your first season?
The toughest part of our season was losing big games that we’re important

What goals did you set for yourself coming into your freshman year?
It was to make varsity and show that I can play at the higher level.
How has the speed and physicality of the game changed for you?
The speed and physicality of the game have definitely increased, so I’ve had to adjust quickly. I’ve focused on reacting faster, staying more disciplined, and getting stronger.
What do you do to stay mentally focused during practices and games?
Games I stayed locked in the same music staying up with teammates looking at my game plan and making sure that I’m prepared.
What’s been your favorite moment so far this season?
Favorite moment is when we played Webb high school and I threw the biggest touchdown of the game to my teammate Jason

What’s harder—practice or the games?
I think the games are harder because we are putting in work all week for a 2 hour game.
