GF All American Profile: OLB,RB Dean Ancalade, South Plaquemines (Buras, LA)

Dean Ancalade is a 5’9”, 190-pound athlete from South Plaquemines High School and a member of the Class of 2026 with a 2.3 GPA. He plays linebacker and occasionally running back, using his physicality and versatility to make an impact on both sides of the ball. Dean has recorded 52 solo tackles and 104 total tackles, averaging 9.5 tackles per game, which has placed him top 32 in Louisiana for one stat, top 7 in Division IV Non-Select, and top 1 in 2A District 10. He runs a 4.8-second 40-yard dash and shows strong dedication in the weight room with a 195-pound bench press, 355-pound squat, and 385-pound deadlift. Beyond the field, Dean loves football for the life lessons it teaches, especially learning how to handle adversity and grow into a young man. He carries that dedication and discipline from football into everything he does.

Who or what inspires you most in you football journey?

I would say my older brothers Malaki and Issac, they laid a blueprint of how our family plays football and also my little brother Eyan, I want to show him that going through the flow isn’t enough if you wanna be better, you have to be different than everyone else (Ancalade).

What has been your most memorable moment on the field so far?

My most memorable moment on the field was playing in the dome everything about that was great (Ancalade).

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a player and how did you handle it?

My biggest challenge i’ve faced was i’m undersized but I got something other players don’t got, a heart and I carry myself with a certain type of swag so i’d say I really got that dog in me (Ancalade).

How do you stay focused and motivated during tough games or practices?

The way I stay focused on the field was playing with my little brother (Ancalade).

What are your goals for the rest of the season?

My goal is to sign this year and go play college ball (Ancalade).

What does being on your team means to you?

It means a lot being on the ream that I was on because we are really like brothers, we spend a lot of time with each other because we really don’t have much to do where we are from (Ancalade).

How do your teammates help you be a better player?

My teammates help me become a better player because they know that they can rely on me and I won’t fold on them (Ancalade).

What has been your biggest highlight so far in your football career?

My biggest highlight was the game winning tackle against West St. Mary (Ancalade).

What award or honor are you most proud of?

All state is my most proud award (Ancalade).

What football goal are you working toward next?

My football goal next is playing at the next level and just competing with the best (Ancalade).
