Team Lions Capture The 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game Series Championship!

The seventh annual Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game made its return back to its stomping grounds, which is Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, Louisiana, and once again, the game certainly lived up to the hype featuring some of the best senior football talent across the United States including Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, and Arizona.

The 2025 version of the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game featured a new format as for the first time ever, there were four senior teams that would participate in this year’s event. Like last year, both the Tigers and the Lions returned while two new teams were added this year in the Knights and the Demons. The defending champion Tigers are led by GM Marcus Randall and head coach Tyler Lewis. The Lions are led by GM Andy Bryson and head coach Gary Cowart. Meanwhile, the Knights are led by GM Doug Gann of 446 Sports and head coach Terrance Blankenship, and finally, the Demons are led by GM Terrance George and head coach Johnathan Collins. All four teams held their annual draft at the opening ceremonies.

CEO Andy Bryson had the first overall pick and made perhaps the most shocking draft pick in Gridiron Football history by stealing Marcus Randall’s son Cayden Randall as the number one overall pick for Team Lions. Being a former LSU quarterback, Randall of course drafted a quarterback with his first overall pick for the Tigers, which was Franklinton High School (Franklinton, LA) QB Jacob Crain. Hosting the bowl game in the city of Pineville, it only made sense for Doug Gann’s first overall pick to be Pineville High School (Pineville, LA) RB Ayden Tate for the Knights. Then, finally, Terrance George drafted Erath High School (Erath, LA) QB Jack Landry to be his first pick for the Demons. After the draft was held at Louisiana Christian University’s Guinn Auditorium, it was time for the players to report to Camp Beauregard where they would stay and begin to bond with each other over the next three days. Gridiron Football cannot thank Camp Beauregard and their staff enough for their warm hospitality. Not only did the players stay at Camp Beauregard, but both the junior high and senior teams also practiced on their fields throughout their time there. A day before the Gridiron Football Junior High and Senior Games get started, the players returned to Guinn Auditorium to receive their bowl game rings and also to hear from seven special guests for the fourth annual 7 on 7 motivational talk. Players got to hear from former LSU QB Marcus Randall, Centenary Head Coach Byron Dawson, former LSU/Syracuse QB Rickie Collins, former LSU/Colorado/Florida A&M OL Kardell Thomas, former Grambling OL and current Peabody assistant coach Katerrio Pennywell, Coach Chris Clark, who has experience coaching in high school, college, and the NFL, Istrouma High School DB Coach Patrick Cleveland, and finally, former Belaire/Butler/Northern Colorado and LFA DB Tywonne Harris. Each had different journeys and different paths, but gave their insight to the players and coaches in attendance. You can watch their speeches below!

After days of practice and preparation, it was finally time for Game Day on Tuesday, December 30th as the four teams play each other in front of college coaches and for the right to be Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game Champions. The new game format will have the Knights taking on the Demons and the Lions taking on the Tigers. Each team will play in four 15 minute timed running clock quarters with the clock stopping to normal game clock in the final two minutes of each half. The winner of the first two games will play each other for a winner take all 15 minute normal clock quarter. If there is a tie at the end of the quarter, there will be a sudden death overtime period with the first team that scores wins. Let’s see how the action unfolded!

Game 1: Knights Defeats Demons 31-21

The first game to kickoff another triple header of football action was between the bowl game’s two newest teams in the Knights and the Demons. The 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game series was off to an action-packed start with a 43-yard kickoff return from Ellender Memorial High School (Houma, LA) WR LaDainian Perna to give the Knights great starting field position. On the first play of the game, Hammond High School (Hammond, LA) DB Vince Delaney gets an interception and returns it back 33 yards to give the Demons the football. After the game’s crazy first two play sequence, Team Demons gambled on fourth down and seven by handing the ball off to St. Charles Catholic High School (LaPlace, LA) RB Skyler Edwards and picking up the first down. The gamble would result in a 16 yard touchdown run from the Demons’ other fantastic running back Zalen Bennett from Hammond High School in Hammond, LA to give them a 7-0 lead over the Knights. It was one Hammond Tornado that set up the drive with the pick and it was the other Tornado that got the touchdown run.

The ensuing drive, it was the Knights’ running back Landon Boston from Jonesboro Hodge High School in Jonesboro, LA that got the drive started with a 42 yard run. On 3rd down and 19, Montgomery High School (Montgomery, LA) QB Mason Jordan escaped the pocket and found a wide-open Ethan Lipscomb from Springfield High School (Springfield, LA) for a 31-yard play to extend the drive. Those two big plays would eventually lead to a direct snap to Pineville High School (Pineville, LA) RB Ayden Tate, who plows in for the rushing touchdown to tie the game at 7 towards the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Demons were stopped for the first time after converting on their first two fourth down attempts. The third time was the charm for the Knights defense as Buckeye High School (Deville, LA) LB Ty Curtis, Carencro High School (Carencro, LA) LB William Lavergne, and Acadiana Christian High School (New Iberia) LB Kaleb Broussard combined to bring Bennett down behind the line of scrimmage and force a turnover on downs. Like the Demons, that big defensive play turned into offense as Mason Jordan threw a beautiful 34 yard touchdown dime to Peabody Magnet High School (Alexandria, LA) WR Zachary Green to give the Knights a 14-7 lead.

Jaidon Henderson, out of Hallsville High School in Hallsville, TX, made a savvy play by picking up a rolling punt and returning it 34 yards for great field position. Although the Demons’ defense would hold, North Vermillion High School (Maurice, LA) K/P Logan Blanchard converted on the short field goal attempt to extend the Knights lead to 10 at 17-7.

Once again, the Knights flipped the field this time with their defense as General Trass High School (Lake Providence, LA) DB JB Newson makes the diving pick to give them the football right back. A 19 yard completion to Arcadia High School (Arcadian, LA) WR Kylon Clark set up the second touchdown plunge of the game for Ayden Tate on fourth down and goal to extend the Knights’ lead at 24-7, which would be the score at halftime.

The second half started off the same fashion how the first half started with some wacky plays from both teams. While South Plaquemines High School (Buras, LA) LB Dean Ancalade forced a fumble, it was Cecilia High School (Breaux Bridge, LA) DE Conner Helaire that picked up the loose ball for the second forced turnover of the game for the Knights. However, the Knights gave the ball right back to the Demons on the ensuing play when a dropped pitch landed in the arms of Frederick Douglass High School (New Orleans, LA) DE Kylee Collier, who recovered the fumble for the Demons.

The Demons leaned on their strong running attack and on this particular drive, it was Skyler Edwards that was the hot hand carrying the ball three times for 40 yards leading to a one-yard touchdown run from General Trass High School (Lake Providence, LA) RB Jaden Weaver to pull the Demons within 10 at 24-14.

To start the fourth quarter, the Knights were looking to add another touchdown on the board. With Mason Jordan finding some of his top receivers like Zachary Green and his teammate Hayden Ganey, Terrance Blankenship’s offense was within striking distance for a third touchdown run from their workhorse Ayden Tate to bring it back to a 17 point lead at 31-14.

Even though the Knights were in control, the Demons never backed down and kept hanging around. Their defense got a fumble recovery themselves from their leading tackler Khyrie Francisco out of St. Martinville High School in St. Martinville, LA for the Demons’ second fumble recovery of the game. Jack Landry led the Demons down the field and Skyler Edwards launches himself into the end zone for an 18 yard touchdown to make it 31-21 with six minutes left to play in the ball game.

The Demons were able to get one more interception from Vince Delaney, but it was too little too late with the Knights hanging on to a 31-21 victory to advance to the championship round. It was a great effort by the Demons to make it a competitive game, but the Knights were just a step ahead the entire time thanks to a Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game single game record three rushing touchdowns from Ayden Tate and an opportunistic defense.

Game 2: Lions Defeat Tigers 21-0

The second game of the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game series featured a rematch of last year’s game which was won by the Tigers. Marcus Randall and HC Tyler Lewis were looking to repeat as champions while Andy Bryson and HC Gary Cowart were seeking some revenge.

Early on, it was evident that it was going to be a physical game as each team got a sack on their opening drive with Jennings High School (Jennings, LA) DT Nate Broussard getting a sack for the Lions and Liberty Magnet High School (Baton Rouge, LA) DE Jamie Covington getting a sack for the Tigers.

Pine High School QB Trey Knight found Escambia High School (Pensacola, FL) WR Daniel McDaniel down the seam for a 27 yard pickup to set up the Lions in the red zone, but Belaire High School (Baton Rouge, LA) CB Christopher Vick was going to deny them from scoring any points by making a great interception in the back of the end zone to give the Tigers the ball back.

Both teams were feeling each other out at the end of the first quarter with it being scoreless. The Lions were able to break the scoreless tie at the beginning of the second quarter. Albany High School (Albany, LA) RB Jonah Grob had to score two times to do it as his first touchdown run was called back because of an illegal procedure penalty, but Grob still found his way into the end zone for a two yard touchdown plunge to give the Lions a 7-0 lead.

Franklinton’s dynamic 1-2 passing combination of Jacob Crain and Damikies McClain connected for a few first downs on the ensuing drive, but the Lions’ interior pass rush of Escambia High School (Pensacola, FL) DT Andrion Battle and Nate Broussard was able to get to Crain to stop any more momentum.

With two minutes before halftime, Trey Knight orchestrated one of the most impressive drives that you will see from any quarterback in the All-Star series. He got it started by connecting with a wide-open Pensacola High School (Pensacola, FL) RB Courtney George for a 35 yard gain and then George again on one of the wildest plays of the weekend by throwing it up for grabs for the Pensacola running back to grab it. It all accumulated with a nine yard touchdown pass from Knight to Edna Karr High School (New Orleans, LA) WR Tye Jackson to give the Lions a 14-0 lead with 40 seconds left to play in the first half.

Woodlawn High School (Baton Rouge, LA) DB Cayden Randall put an exclamation point at the end of the first half with a huge takedown on New Iberia High School (New Iberia, LA) RB Kendrick Jean Lewis to head into the locker room with a 14-0 lead over the Tigers.

The Lions started the second half the way they finished the first half with another impressive drive. A pass completion from Knight over the middle to DeSoto Central High School (Southaven, MS) TE Gage Davis set up the third touchdown of the game for the Lions, which was a one yard touchdown catch from Knight to Tallulah Academy (Monroe, LA) RB Owen Martin to make it 21-0.

The story of the second half was the same as the first half when it comes to the Lions’ defense. Delhi High School (Delhi, LA) 6’8 DE Zion Hogan swallowed Crain for a sack on the Tigers’ first play of the quarter. The rest of quarter was pretty quiet until St. Michael High School (Baton Rouge, LA) WR Johnny McCarty made the play of the day as McCarty made his best Odell Beckham impersonation by snagging the ball out of the air with one hand.

Even though the Tigers had the honor of having the best play of the day that will later make an appearance on Sunday NFL Countdown’s “You Got Mossed”, it was the Lions that were in command with a 21-0 lead entering the fourth quarter.

The Tigers were threatening with their best drive of the game, but once again, the Lions would put a stop to prevent the shutout. The Lions would milk the next five minutes of the final quarter before the Tigers get their second interception of the game this time from Scotlandville High School (Baton Rouge, LA) DB Brendin Perkins. A couple of Crain completions to McClain and McCarty set up a field goal attempt from Acadiana Renaissance High School (Youngsville, LA) K/P Jesse Clay to try and prevent the shutout, but the attempt was short.

Andy gets revenge over Marcus with a dominant 21-0 shutout victory for the Lions. Although there were sparks from Jacob Crain and a talented receiving core, the Tigers could not consistently move the football against a stingy Lions defense. The Lions certainly looked impressive in their win as they showed that they don’t have many weaknesses. Trey Knight was efficient and could throw the ball to his playmakers like Courtney George, Daniel McDaniel, and Tye Jackson while the Lions can also lean heavily on their big, physical rushing attack led by the three headed monster of Jonah Grob, Zion Lee, and Owen Martin. The win sets up the championship matchup between the Lions and the Knights for all of the marbles.

Game 3: Lions Defeat Knights 7-0

The entire five-day event all came down to one 15 minute quarter of championship football between the Lions and the Knights for the right to win the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game Championship.

The Knights won the toss and elected to receive the football first. The opening drive was promising getting Ayden Tate the football and breaking off a 12 yard run to move the chains but ended up punting the football to the Lions. The Lions started their first drive by getting the ball to their playmaker Courtney George on a swing pass for 16 yards, but like the Knights, had to punt the ball again after converting on one first down.

Like the first game, Jaidon Henderson set up the Knights with great field position after another electric punt return to get his team at midfield. The Knights offense had some momentum on their second drive as Mason Jordan found his number one target from the previous game in Zachary Green for a 16 yard pickup and then a 11 yard gain. The Lions defense did rise to the occasion by getting the Knights out of field goal range with a timely sack from Archbishop Hannan High School LB Greyson Dupre. Then, on fourth down and 14, Jennings High School DB Gerald Watson made one of the most acrobatic plays of the game with a diving interception to give the Lions the ball back.

Using the momentum from the turnover, the Lions leaned on their bell cow Jonah Grob to get the drive jumpstarted. Trey Knight went back to the air and found Courtney George on a crossing route for 24 yards. The next play would be the pivotal play in this game to break a scoreless tie when Jonah Grob broke through the teeth of a defense for a 25-yard touchdown to give the Lions a 7-0 lead.

After the touchdown, both defenses stepped up with more pressure. Andrion Battle gets a sack for the Lions and Conner Helaire gets a sack for the Knights. Helaire and William Lavergne’s sack on Trey Knight gave the Knights one more chance with the football. The Lions used their pass rush to seal the deal with a Bryson Vaughn sack on third down and then flushing Mason Jordan to run out the pocket short of the sticks on fourth down. The turnover on downs allowed the Lions to run out the rest of the clock to preserve a 7-0 win over the Knights to win the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game Championship.

For Andy, this is his second Gridiron Football Championship win in three years and for Gary Cowart, this is his first championship win as the head coach. The Lions were impressive in their championship run outscoring their opponents 28-0 in two games. Perhaps, one of the most dominant Gridiron Football Bowl Game teams ever assembled, the Lions’ balanced offensive attack, strong defensive front, and excellent secondary combined for an incredible run to the title.

Team Lions Offensive MVP: RB Jonah Grob, Albany High School (Albany, LA)

The Lions had multiple options for the Most Valuable Player. Pensacola, FL RB Courtney George was a great versatile weapon for the Lions as a running back and as a receiver. Pine High School (Franklinton, LA) QB Trey Knight was efficient in leading the Lions to victory and really, the whole offensive line can be credited for their performance, but in the end, we went with the Lions’ bruising running back Jonah Grob out of Albany High School in Albany, Louisiana. The former Gridiron Football National Player of the Week was a battering ram for the Lions through two games. The 6’0, 200 pound downhill runner found his way into the end zone three times including one touchdown that got called back because of penalty. Grob still managed to score a touchdown that same drive against the Tigers and also scored on the game winning touchdown to defeat the Knights in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game Championship. Overall, he finished with 10 carries for 71 yards and two touchdowns in five quarters played.

Team Lions Defensive MVP: DB Cayden Randall, Woodlawn High School (Baton Rouge, LA)

The Lions’ defense was quite dominant in their two games by shutting out the Tigers and the Knights in five quarters of action while pressuring the quarterback 12 times and sacking them six times throughout. Like the Lions’ offense, there were plenty of candidates to choose from including Escambia High School (Pensacola, FL) DT Andrion Battle, who had four tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 TFL, 1 PBU, and 2 QB hurries, Jennings High School DT Nate Broussard, who had 1.5 sacks, Delhi High School DE Zion Hogan, who was nearly unblockable, linebackers like Greyson Dupre and Bryson Vaughn, who were all over the field, and defensive backs like Kendrick Cahee, Don Brooks, and Gerald Watson, who were excellent in coverage. However, in the end, the defensive MVP went to the Lions’ number one overall pick: DB Cayden Randall from Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge, LA. The Southeastern Louisiana University signee made his impact felt throughout on special teams by laying the wood on two crushing hits. He also made plays on defense and even got a few wildcat snaps too. Leading the team in tackles with 4.5, Randall’s versatility, energy, and hard hitting ability was shone on the biggest stage. Winning the Defensive MVP award and having his dad Marcus Randall present him the award was just the cherry on top to a special day.

Team Knights Offensive MVP: RB Ayden Tate, Pineville High School (Pineville, LA)

It is only right to give the Knights’ Offensive MVP to their first overall pick and Pineville High School’s own Ayden Tate. Highlighted by a three-touchdown performance against the Demons to get the Knights to the championship round, the 5’11, 205 pound running back was the go-to guy whenever Terrance Blankenship’s team needed a play. Tate’s three touchdowns tie a single game bowl game record and he finished with 13 carries for 63 yards to go with the three scores.

Along with Tate, Montgomery High School QB Mason Jordan and Peabody High School WR Zachary Green were also in consideration for the Knights Offensive MVP.

Team Knights Defensive MVP: DE Conner Helaire, Cecilia High School (Breaux Bridge, LA)

Cecilia High School Bulldogs certainly know how to perform on the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game stage. Last year, it was WR Ellis Stewart that took home the Tigers’ MVP with two touchdown catches. This year, you could have made an argument with either Bulldogs defender in Braylon Jones or Conner Helaire to take home the Defensive MVP honors for the Knights. The slight lean went towards Conner Helaire, who created havoc in both games. The All-State DE/OLB finished with 4 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 QB hurries, and a fumble recovery.

Besides the Cecilia duo, Carencro High School (Carencro, LA) LB William Lavergne and Buckeye High School (Deville, LA) LB Ty Curtis were in consideration for the award.

Team Demons Offensive MVP: RB Skyler Edwards, St. Charles Catholic High School (LaPlace, LA)

St. Charles Catholic High School (LaPlace, LA) RB Skyler Edwards added more hardware to the trophy case at the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game by receiving the Demons Offensive MVP. The state championship running back ran the ball hard for the Demons carrying the ball 12 times for 74 yards and a touchdown.

He and Hammond High School (Hammond, LA) RB Zalen Bennett proved to be a good 1-2 punch in the backfield with Bennett also getting 10 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown himself. The Demons rushing attack certainly kept them in the game and made it tough for the Knights defense all game long.

Team Demons Defensive MVP: LB Khyrie Francisco, St. Martinville High School (St. Martinville, LA)

St. Martinville High School (St. Martinville, LA) LB Khyrie Francisco had an active game for the Demons defense leading the team in tackles with three tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery. Francisco was all over the field making plays while laying thr wood and keeping it tough for an explosive Knights offensive attack. Also considered for the Defensive MVP for the Demons was Hammond High School (Hammond, LA) DB Vince Delaney, who had two interceptions in the backend of the defense.

4th Place: Team Tigers (0-1)

Team Tigers Offensive MVP: QB Jacob Crain, Franklinton High School (Franklinton, LA)

Although the Tigers were not able to score, they showed a lot of flashes moving the football because of their signal caller Jacob Crain. The all-time leading passer from Franklinton High School still was able to throw the football against the Lions’ stonewall defense. Crain showed great composure by completing 11 of 24 passes for 118 yards and finding five different wide receivers. Two of Crain’s wide receivers were also heavily considered for the award. Crain’s favorite target and Franklinton teammate Damikies McClain was one of the most consistent pieces to the Tigers’ offense finishing with five catches for 52 yards. Then, there is St. Michael High School (Baton Rouge, LA) WR Johnny McCarty, who finished with two catches for 48 yards plus the play of the entire week with a one-handed catch that made ESPN’s “You Got Mossed.”

Team Tigers Defensive MVP: LB Ryan Variste, Madison Prep Academy (Baton Rouge, LA)

Madison Prep Academy (Baton Rouge, LA) LB Ryan Variste was making plays over the field leading the Tigers in tackles with 5.5. No matter the score of the game, this Charger gave it all and was definitely a thorn in the Lions’ side all game long. Also having great games and being considered for the Tigers’ Defensive MVP Award were Liberty Magnet High School LB Keith Joseph, Alexandria Senior High School DT Jace Spikes, Scotlandville Magnet High School DB Brendin Perkins, and Liberty Magnet High School DE Jamie Covington.
