Tulane Green Wave takes on Army Black Knights: Part 4

The saga continues…

Both teams are looking for revenge after losing their last games.

The Black Knights fell to Ohio State Buckeyes at Ohio’s stadium. The final score was 38-7.

At times in the game, Army’s triple-option confused the Buckeyes and extended some drives, but OSU’s athletic defensive ends kept it together for the win. The Black Knights collected 278 offensive yards but did not score after a 3-yard touchdown run by Darnell Woolfork in the second quarter. The Black Knights looked decent in the first half, but could not keep up with the Buckeyes in the second.

“I thought that we ran the ball really well up front sometimes,” Army quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw said. “Our offensive line, they blocked them really well. But (Ohio State) played really hard, they are a very talented team and they won a lot of one-on-one battles.”

The Wave fell to the Oklahoma Sooners at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The final score was 56-14.

Tulane had a swift start, forcing a turnover on Oklahoma’s opening drive. The Wave then converted it into a two-yard touchdown run by senior running back Dontrell Hilliard. Coach Willie Fritz made these comments about the game: “We were running inside zone quite a bit and had some nice seams. The few times that they would squeeze it, we would do pretty well with running the quarterback and running the ball as well. It looked good early, but they made some adjustments and started bringing more people. In the second half, it was corner blitzes and just having a few more people that we couldn’t account for at the point of attack. I think this is a game that in six or seven weeks it can help you out at a little bit.” Fritz said. “Playing a quality opponent, you learn you just have to keep fighting and keep battling, I thought we did a good job of that in the first half. There’s ebbs and flows in a game, and when things aren’t going your way you just have to keep playing and fighting. That’s what we’re teaching our guys.”

 

The Wave and the Black Knights are going to indeed keep playing and fighting this Saturday at Yulman Stadium. Tulane is looking for back-to-back home wins for the first time since their 2015 season. Army’s five-game winning streak ended abruptly with their loss to Ohio State. So, both teams clearly have an appetite for vengeance going into this game.
