Three of Louisiana’s Own Win Super Bowl LVII

In one of the greatest Super Bowls in recent memory, six Louisiana natives took part in the experience including three of those players that came up on the winning side representing the Kansas City Chiefs.

Led by head coach Andy Reid and NFL MVP QB Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs roared back after trailing 24-14 and came back to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in a 38-35 classic. This is also the Chiefs’ second Super Bowl win in the last four seasons. Three former Louisiana high school football players got to be a part of the excitement while adding “Super Bowl Champion” to their resumes.

The three players that will return to Louisiana as Super Bowl champions are running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, safety Justin Reid, and cornerback L’Jarius Sneed.

Although Edwards-Helaire was not active for the Super Bowl with a high ankle sprain, the Baton Rouge product from Catholic High School just put himself in very rare territory, which is winning a state championship in high school, a national championship at LSU, and now, a Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Justin Reid, who played his prep football at Dutchtown High School, and L’Jarius Sneed, who played his prep football at Minden High School, played big roles during the big game. Reid finished with seven tackles during the Super Bowl including a big hit on Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith while Sneed also finished with seven tackles plus two pass breakups.
