Target Locked

This past Friday, October 16, the Green Wave battled against the University of Houston Cougars in Yulman Stadium. During the second quarter, The Green Wave successfully carried out a fake punt which later led Tulane’s #26 Dontrell Hilliard to score the Wave’s first touchdown of the night, followed by the kick made by Andrew DiRocco.
Although Tulane University was unable to claim the win against their undefeated American Athletic Conference competitors this Friday, the Green Wave was able to accumulate their 100th forced turnover from a competitor while under the direction of Coach Curtis “CJ” Johnson.

During Friday’s post-game interview, Coach CJ acknowledged some of the issues his team struggled with by stating: “You’ve got to learn from your past mistakes so you don’t get as many penalties…and establish a better running game.” Coach CJ previously mentioned that the Wave has been making a continuous effort to run the ball more efficiently and effectively against their opponents, which will be very important when they travel to Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland this upcoming weekend.

The Green Wave’s matchup against the Navy will take place on Saturday, October 24, and it will be the two teams’ first game against one another since 2005. With his coordinates set in place for another Tulane victory, Coach CJ also stated Friday night that, “You’ve got to figure out which guys you want to go to war with, then go to war with those guys.” Despite the Green Wave’s next stretch of tough matchups, the Green Wave’s gridiron arsenal is favorably equipped to thrive during next week’s battle.
