Spring Tour 2023: Terrebonne vs McDonogh 35 Spring Game

On my travels this spring, I ended up in historic Houma, La for the Terrebonne vs McDonogh 35 Spring Game.

Terrebonne is coached by Tyler Lewis. Coach Lewis is in his second season at Terrebonne High. When I first met coach Lewis, he was an assistant coach with the Tigers over 7 years ago. Since then he has coached at West Jefferson and St James.

“We had a successful spring, I am proud of our guys they really stepped up and put a lot into the last 10 days. We have a new offensive coordinator and you can see the testimony of work he and the offensive staff has been putting in. Our guys guys are really buying in. We are showing up on the outside with our wide receivers. Guys that weren’t here last year, our run game is stepping up, the whole nine yards. Even our kicking game is being productive. I am really pleased. I really think we did a heck of a job.” -Coach Tyler Lewis

“Being in the coaching fraternity, I get out a lot and network. Being a part of Gridiron Football helps me get these guys noticed. Kylan Billiot is heck of a receiver. He is 6’4″ 190 LBS, WR Quincey McKay Jr is 6’2″ 195 LBS, and LB Jalil Matthews who is 5’11” pushing 6′ 185 LBS we just moved him from Safety to Mike Linebacker and he had a hell of a game as well.” -Coach Tyler Lewis

McDonogh 35 is headed up by longtime ball coach Frank Daggs. I first met coach Daggs when I was working at LSU and he was an assistant coach over a decade ago now. Coach Daggs was recently awarded the New Orleans Saints Coach Of The Week for Week 8 in 2022.

“Coach Tyler did a great job, I love their program.” -Coach Frank Daggs

“We are going to go back and look at the film from this game and see where we made our mistakes and fix them. We have 8 weeks now until football season so we will be will be hitting the weight room and doing some 7 on 7’s this summer. We are going to get better. We are going to get bigger, faster and stronger.” -Coach Frank Daggs

Safety Thai Brown, All-State last year, and Receiver Dameon Mccloud joined coach Daggs during the post game.

Both Frank and Tyler are great coaches. As I stated earlier, I have been friends with both of them for many years now and have witnessed their careers flourish. They both believe in helping their kids first and seeing to that their kids are taken care of. I admire and respect both of these guys and all that they have done for their kids.

Watch my interviews I did with both coaches below and the pictures I took during the game. The pictures are free to use, just give GridironFootballUSA.com the credit.
