West Morgan High School is a public high school located in Trinity, Alabama. It is part of the Morgan County School District with grades from 9-12. The West Morgan Rebel’s team colors are maroon and gray. West Morgan participates in the 4A class of sports in the AHSAA. The Rebels Football Team is currently led by Head Coach Drew Phillips.
Before arriving at West Morgan, Coach Phillips was at Athens High School for 7 years, assuming the Offensive Coordinator role for his last several years there. Here, he was a 6A Assistant Coach of the Year Nominee in 2020. This past year was the second year of Drew Phillips being the head coach at West Morgan. The very first year, West Morgan’s record was 5-5, making much improvement the very next year to a 10-2 record. One of the major reasons for the turnaround in success is that the players and staff have bought into what the program is trying to accomplish. During the last two years of Coach Phillips’ tenure, West Morgan was moved up from a 3A to a 4A school. It is not always easy to just go up in classification levels and begin winning. With that being said, last year West Morgan made history by being the first time they have made it to a 4A playoff game and won a 4A playoff game. This year, Coach Phillips was nominated for Decatur Daily Coach of the Year award.
Looking forward, Coach Phillips would like for the team to keep the same attitude that put them in this situation. If they keep showing up and playing for something that is bigger than themselves, then they will be successful in the future. A lot of returning starters with big-game experience is a confidence booster moving forward for the West Morgan Football Program. Lastly, Coach Phillips spoke about some seniors that will be relied upon heavily during next year’s journey.
#1 Jeremy Strong is a 5 ’11” 190 lb class of 2024 Outside Linebacker and Running Back. Jeremy is a very strong and versatile kid with explosiveness and good football intelligence.
#14 Braxton Peters is a 6’2” 190 lb class of 2024 Quarterback. Braxton is a three year starter who has played a lot of football and led the team to the playoffs. He is one of the strongest kids on the team.
#19 Shamarvion Mosley is a 6’2” 190 lb class of 2024 Outside Linebacker and Defensive End. Shamarvion is a great leader and has good size for the edge position.
#21 Jalen Fletcher is a 5’7” 165 lb class of 2024 Running Back and Cornerback. Jalen is an elite returner and also plays the slot position. He is an exciting and explosive guy who returns as a three year starter.
#24 Wes Bradford is a 6’4” 170 lb class of 2024 Free Safety and Middle Linebacker. Wes returns as a three year starter and has great open-field skills.
#3 Lou Segars is a 6’1” 170 lb class of 2024 Linebacker. Lou is one of the leaders on the team and returns as another three year starter.
#4 Jamaury Burgess is a 5 ’10” 158 lb class of 2024 Wide Receiver and Cornerback. Jamaury is a very explosive player on both sides of the ball with good speed.
#40 Ti’arrius Mosley is a class of 2024 Wide Receiver and Free Safety. Ti’arrius is a very special athlete and does long jumping for the track team.
#34 Ashton Garland is a 5’9” 185 lb class of 2024 Middle Linebacker and Fullback. He is another 3 year starter and has the highest motor on the football team.
