School Spotlight: Jefferson High School (Jefferson, TX)

Jefferson High School is a public 3A classification by the University Interscholastic League. The Bulldogs are located in a small East Texas town 15 miles above Interstate-20 called Jefferson, Texas. The school has a unique geographical make up of the student body. Jefferson is located in one of the longest counties in the state that reaches all the way to Louisiana border. (Marion County) Athletically, the school has been blessed with a ton of talent over the years with Athletes ending up going to college in Football, Basketball, Baseball, Track, and more sports. The expectations for the Bulldogs this year is to focus on winning back to back district titles. This past year, the team “surprised some people”- Coach Jimmerson. In a tough district, every win is a big for the program. With the momentum coming off the past year, the Bulldogs look forward to grab some district wins with bring back another district title.  

The head football coach for the Jefferson Bulldogs is Antwain Jimmerson, who is from Jefferson. He played football at Tulsa then later made coaching stops around the state of Oklahoma and Texas before coming home. He has been back coaching for the Bulldogs for the past 8 years. Coach Jimmerson says the talent at Jefferson starts with Coach Devin Mathis at Jefferson Junior High. He does a great job getting the kids football ready for the high school level. Next, Assistant Head Coach and Offensive line coach C.J. Rivera does a great job with producing great talent on the offensive front year after year. The offensive coordinator for the one of best offenses in the district last year was Adam DuBose. Stephen Young has had the keys to defensive side of the ball for the past seasons. All these coaches on staff have “Key Components”- Coach Jimmerson. The coaches do more for the kids than just their job titles show.

OL Bryce Clark 6’0 300 explosive offensive leader for the team. The Bulldog is having a great offseason doing powerlifting. He recently squatted 700 lbs. at a meet. He will end up being a 4 year starter.

S Judsen Carter 6’0 150 player that isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder at any moment in the game. A very physical player that is a good defensive leader. Carter is good at getting the defense lined up and helped lead one the best defenses in the district this past year. Carter is going to be a 3 year starter at safety for the Bulldogs.

RB Kamran Williams 5’10 180 speedster of the class of 2025, was a big playmaker for the Bulldogs district championship year. His recruitment has heated up recently, getting some big time offers around the country. Holds offers from Michigan, Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech, Tulsa, and others.

WR Chris Love 6’3 160 receiver that has the height and hands to go up and catch anything thrown in his area. Love is another class of 2025 player on the team with a very hopeful future for the Bulldogs. Chris will likely be a 3 year starter for Jefferson Bulldogs.
