Rosepine defeated Red River Friday night in the first round of the LHSAA Playoffs 34-6.
This game started off with a boom, literally. At 5:30 the sky let the bottom out and all f the past four months of drought let loose. The monsoon lit up the sky and put 3 to 6 inches of water on the field. If you have never played on Rosepine’s field, it is a giant sponge and holds water.
Rosepine’s Grant Ducote was the player of the game with 4 touchdowns, 3 rushing and 1 receiving. Grant had 136 yards rushing on 12 carries and 2 receptions for 42 yards. Grant also had 4 tackles with 1 tackle for a loss on defense.
Rosepine’s fifth touchdown cam from Haydn Runge, class of 2023 Defensive Lineman. This touchdown came on a 38 yard scamper. This was a nice present for Haydn on his birthday.
Red River’s only touchdown came on a 4 yard run by SO running back Montreveun Smith.
