Rising Stars : Dexter Ricard

Dexter Ricard is a young and upcoming prospect, who currently plays for Southern lab in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is 14 years old and in the 8th grade with a 3.6 gpa listed at 5’6 weighting 140lbs. He’s a Dual threat Quarterback in the class of 2028 that can make plays throwing or his legs if needed. At the Bowl game he had 7 rushing attempts for 44 rushing yards averaging 6.3 yards an attempt. When the pocket breaks down he has the speed and awareness to avoid sacks and extend the play to make the throw. If he can’t find anyone open to throw to he has that ability to take off and get the first down or more. Here’s a quick interview we had with him.

What or who got you to start playing football?

“Watching the NFL growing up made me want to play football.”

How long have you been playing football?

“I’ve been playing for 3 years now.”

What positions do you play?

“I play Quarterback.”

What NFL player do you like watching?

“I enjoy watching Kyler Murray play.”

What is the most challenging aspect of football of football to you?

“The most challenging thing for me right now is being mentally tough.”

What is a strength that you have in your game?

“My ability to extend plays and make something out of nothing.”

What is something you’re working on to improve your game?

“Staying clam when my back is against the wall in a football game.”

What are your current football goals?

“Winning a state championship for Southern lab.”

“My first junior varsity game as a 8th grader leading my team to a victory.”

“Football has taught me to stay consistent and to not make excuses.”
