Rising Star, TE/LB McKale Wyatt, Ferriday Junior High (Ferriday, Louisiana)

McKale Wyatt is a class of 2028 linebacker/ tight end out of Ferriday, Louisiana. McKale recorded 1.5 tackles during the 2023 Gridiron Football Junior High Bowl. McKale had a stellar season, recording 40 tackles to go along with 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles with 2 fumble receptions, and a pick 6 from the linebacker position. On the offensive side of the ball he had 3 receptions for 55 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had a massive growth spurt this year, moving from 5’10 to 6’2, and added some muscle to weigh in at 180 lbs. He has been playing football since 6th grade and boasts a 3.0 GPA. Below is a Q&A I did with McKale.

What is your favorite part of the game?

Really the whole game, the contact, the sportsmanship, the work ethic. All of it.

Which position do you enjoy more, linebacker or tight end?

More linebacker because I can read the field, and I have a high defensive IQ.

Who do you model your game after on each side of the ball?

For tight end I would say Travis Kelce because he is more athletic. On the linebacker side I would say Patrick Queen.

Favorite highlight of yourself from playing?

When I got a one handed interception for a pick 6.

What made you love football?

My coach in sixth grade begged me to play. In seventh grade Coach Scott started working on weights with me, him and my other coach had a big input on my life with football. Walter Johnson who played linebacker at Louisiana Tech and for the New Orleans Saints also gave me inspiration to play the game.

Any hobbies outside of sports?

I ride horses and ATV’s.

What is your goal after football?

I would like to go into welding and work under myself.

If you had to pick a college to play for right now, where would it be?

It’s between ULM, LSU, and Alcorn.

Any pregame rituals?

I pray before each game for motivation and inspiration.

Anything about your game that stands out?

How I really try to leave it all out on the field until the final whistle.
