Rising Star, RB/LB Jumyri Carter, Ferriday Junior High (Ferriday, Louisiana)

Jumyri Carter is a 5’6, 150 lb, hard hitting linebacker, and bruising running back from the class of 2028. Jumyri had an outstanding season at linebacker this season for Ferriday Junior High. He recorded 28 tackles and got to the quarterback in the pocket twice for sacks this season. Jumyri showed up for the 2023 Gridiron All- American Bowl for Junior High with a reception for 6 yards at the running back position, and a pass breakup as a linebacker. With some more coaching and development, teams will fear Jumyri’s hard hitting style for years to come.

What is your favorite part about the game of football?

Hitting people hard and just being able to be physical.

What did it mean to be able to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All- American Bowl Game?

It meant a lot to me. I got to play against other great athletes, as well as play one last game with some of my teammates before we go to high school.

What position do you like to play the most, and why?

Linebacker because I like to be around the ball and I love hitting people.

What is most challenging about playing linebacker

Trying to make a stop while also fighting off blocks. You have to have that dawg in you to succeed.

Who do you try and emulate on the field?

Ray Lewis for sure.

What challenges have you had to overcome in life, and how did you overcome them?

I’ve always been the smaller kid so I have to work harder than everyone else.

How have your coaches impacted your life?

Always being there when I need it. They help me stay out of trouble and instill good discipline in me, on and off the field.

Do you have any hobbies outside of football?

I love to ride horses.

Do you have a favorite personal highlight from playing?

When my coach put me in at quarterback in a wildcat formation. I scored my first offensive touchdown from it.

What stands out about your game?

I go 100% no matter what. I give it all and leave it all on the field.
