LSU’S DELPIT AND TRACY EARN SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

BATON ROUGE – For the second straight week and the fourth time this year, LSU placekicker Cole Tracy has been named the Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the 19-6 win over 22nd-ranked Mississippi State on Saturday.

Tracy is joined this week by Grant Delpit as LSU’s conference honorees as the sophomore safety has been selected as SEC Defensive Player of the Week for his 10-tackle, 2-interception effort in the victory over the Bulldogs.

It’s the first SEC weekly honor for Delpit, who last week as named by several national publications as a Midseason All-America.

Against Mississippi State, Tracy kicked four field goals and accounted for 13 of LSU’s points in the win. Tracy has now made 12 straight field goals and leads the nation with 21 field goals for the season Overall, Tracy is 21-of-23 on field goal attempts and he hasn’t missed a kick inside 50-yards this year. His only two misses have come from 53 yards (vs. Auburn and Ole Miss).

Tracy is the first player in LSU history to kick nine field goals over a two-game span. In the win over Georgia, Tracy tied a school record with five field goals in the 36-16 victory over the then-No. 2 Bulldogs. He also ranks third on LSU’s single-season list for field goals with 21, just seven shy of tying the mark of 28 held by Josh Jasper.

Delpit had another outstanding overall game for the LSU against Mississippi State, lead the Tigers in tackles (10) and interceptions (2), while also recording a sack for an 8-yard loss.

He was a catalyst for a Tiger defense that limited the Bulldogs to just a first quarter field goal and 260 yards of total offense. Mississippi State completed just eight passes in the game for 59 yards. The Bulldogs also managed to convert only two of 14 third-down opportunities as the Tigers forced either a punt, turnover or turnover on downs on Mississippi State’s final 11 possessions of the game.
