LSU Has Strong First Day of Early Signing Period With 25 Additions

LSU head coach Brian Kelly came to LSU wanting to recruit the best talent in the country and he got the chance to showcase that on the first day of the early signing period. After his first signing period in which he signed only 13 freshmen to the roster, Kelly almost doubled that amount just on the first day of his second go around as the Tigers head coach.

In all, 25 players made it official today to sign with the Tigers. Signing that many players on the first day shows the hard work that Kelly and the rest of the LSU coaching staff has put into this class in hopes of bringing back another national championship to Baton Rouge.

“We are focusing on recruiting to LSU the players that we want here, that we believe will be successful here, and that we can develop. That is our mindset here. We focus strictly at the job at hand. That is recruiting those that we believe understand out mission to graduate champions. The 25 that we signed, we are super excited about.”

LSU Head Coach Brian Kelly

As of now, LSU has the number six ranked recruiting class in the country according to 247, On3, and Rivals behind the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, and Miami.

The Tigers got plenty of talent with ten of Louisiana’s top prospects deciding to stay in state and with also other great talent around the country deciding to come to Baton Rouge.

LSU not only added great talent, but they picked up players at pivotal positions such as on both lines of scrimmage, at tight end, and in the secondary.

15 of the freshmen signees are early enrollees so the buy-in is incredible for this class. Although the majority of this class has signed, there is still some work to be done in order to make this a complete class.

“We feel comfortable when recruiting has completed, and it hasn’t completed totally for us yet.”

LSU Head Coach Brian Kelly

A big target that Tiger fans will keep an eye on tomorrow is five star CB Desmond Ricks, who can really help put the cherry on top for this freshman class. Also, on Friday, the additions from the transfer portal will be announced for LSU’s signing class so make sure to keep up to date with us for those latest additions and any other additions that will make up the rest of this class.

Check out all the 25 signees below. After the conclusion of the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game on December 30th, I will post daily articles spotlighting the newest LSU players so make sure to come back right here at Gridiron Football to get to know all about the future star Tigers.
