LSU Adds JUCO TE Connor Gilbreath

Over the weekend, JUCO tight end Connor GIlbreath announced his commitment to the LSU Tigers. Gilbreath is a part of the 2023 recruiting class and will be eligible to play for the Tigers this season making him the fourth new tight end to join the Tigers from the 2023 class joining Jackson McGohan, Mac Markway, and Ka’Morreun Pimpton. Overall, he is the fifth scholarship tight end on the roster headlined by Mason Taylor.

Coming in after playing one season at Butte College in California, the 6’6, 268-pound tight end will be used most as a blocking tight end for the Tigers and could possibly transition to playing on the offensive line.

“Coach Denbrock wants to use me as a blocking tight end, and I’m excited about that. Catching is cool, but I could care less. I love blocking. I am not a tight end trying to be a receiver.”

“With every school I have talked to, my route would be play a year at tight end, then develop into an offensive tackle. I am all in on the switch. It gives me a chance to block even more.”

Gilbreath announced his decision on Twitter after the Tigers’ baseball team defeated Tennessee in the first game of the College World Series in Omaha, and chose LSU over the likes of Arizona, Colorado, Miami, Mississippi State, NC State, and Washington.
