Lions Begin Home Stretch of Spring Practice

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana football team returned to the Strawberry Stadium turf for the first time in two weeks on Tuesday to begin the home stretch of spring practice.

For Lion head coach Frank Scelfo, it was evident on Tuesday that his team was coming off a layoff after taking last week off for Spring Break.

“We were a little sluggish today,” Scelfo commented. “We made way too many mental mistakes. You could definitely tell that we hadn’t been on the field for a while.”

While Scelfo was not pleased with his team’s efforts, he’s confident his team will fight through adversity and play with the energy and enthusiasm it displayed through spring’s first three weeks.

“We’re going to be fine,” Scelfo said. “We just have to get back locked in. Our players started practice at the pace we wanted right before we went on break. We like this group and we expect them to show more of that type effort when we come back out here on Thursday.”

The Lions will practice ThursdayFriday and Saturday this week, before closing the spring with practices next Tuesday and Thursday, followed by the 2 p.m. Spring Game on Super Lion Saturday, April 21.
