Last week, LGF spoke about how this year’s UAB team is different than the ones in years past and that showed Saturday as Louisiana Tech traveled to face off against the Blazers. Tech would have to play an entire, 4 quarter game in order to beat a stiff UAB team looking for an upset bid.

The Bulldogs offense came out firing putting up 14 1stquarter points giving Tech an 11 point advantage early. UAB’s stud, Jordan Howard scored half-way through the 2nd decreasing the Tech lead to 4. Bulldog running back Kenneth Dixon would respond with his 3rd rushing touchdown of the first half. The bulldogs would go onto kicking a half-ending field goal to raise their lead to 14 going into half-time.

UAB would score on a Tech fumble bringing the game back to within 7. Tech would respond later with Cody Sokol throwing a touchdown pass to steady pass-catcher Trent Taylor. After a failed 2 point attempt, the Bulldogs were back to a comfortable 13 point lead. The Bulldogs would go onto building upon that lead by kicking a 48-yard field goal and throwing another score to Carlos Henderson. UAB would return the ensuing kick-off for a touchdown, but failed to capitalize on the momentum fining the game 40-24.

The Tech football team is on a roll at a critical point of the season. The Bulldog offense has found an identity and the defense has made impactful, timely plays all season long. Tech has next week off, then travels to Norfolk, Virginia to take on a struggling Old Dominion team.
