LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has decided to forgo the NFL Draft and come back in 2023 for another season with the Tigers. In a rare occurrence, 2023 will be Daniels’ fifth year as a starting FBS quarterback. After coming in as a transfer from Arizona State, Jayden Daniels came to LSU and won the starting job. Daniels kept the job and never relinquished it.
The Tigers’ dual threat had a slow start to the season, but then picked it up over the course of the season to have one of the best quarterback seasons in LSU history. Daniels led the team in both passing and rushing as he threw for 2,774 yards and 16 touchdowns to only three interceptions while using his dynamic speed rushing for another 818 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Most importantly, he came up big for the Tigers and led the team to a SEC Western Division Title in head coach Brian Kelly’s first year accounting for majority of the Tigers’ offense with 3,592 total yards and 27 touchdowns.
He will get the chance to pad those numbers at the Citrus Bowl as head coach Brian Kelly also recently announced that he will play on January 2nd.
