High Quality Spring Football

Some would call me a football junkie. If loving football was a crime, than I am guilty as charged. Tonight I went to Joe Brown Park in New Orleans to watch two semi pro football teams, The Louisiana Lightning (6-2) played host to the Greater New Orleans Jaguars (3-5).

Both teams yielded local players from New Orleans. Both teams had a mixture of guys who played everything from high school to former professional athletes. Players like #91 for the Jags, Shawn Lee, who was a standout in high school. At 6’6 330 lbs Lee is a sight to see. By halftime in the game, he had already stacked up three sack. What is amazing is that he never received any offer to play college ball. On the other side of the ball, the lightning had a couple of guys who stood out to me. Wide Receiver #8, KHALID KORNEGAY, and Defensive Tackle #99 SAMEL MCCLAIN, were two of the fastest guys at their position.

If you are looking for some quality football here in the “off-season,” check out your local semi-pro football teams. Very affordable, and a great family atmosphere is the key while not even mentioning how good the quality of the players are. Some of these guys have great aspirations to be the next Devin Breaux of the New Orleans Saints.
