Future Outlook: Barbe High School

This year at LGF, we will be taking a look at the senior class of some Louisiana high schools and taking a look at their potential to play at the next level. Categories for each position are measured on a 1-10 scale, with 10 being well above average and 1 being well below average. We continue with the senior class of the Barbe Buccaneers.

 

Josh Thomas DB 5-11 187lbs

 

Plays corner and safety. Good tackler. Speed is OK. Special teams player is a plus. Needs to add more strength to help in the run game. Future Outlook: D3 corner

Dana Fontenot RB 5-10 190lbs

 

Good vision and balance. Can catch the ball out of the backfield. Tough runner does not usually go down after first contact. Hits the hole with speed and can run away from the defense. Future Outlook: D1/D2 running back

Dalon Getwood LB 5-10 190lbs

 

Good tackler in traffic and in the open field. Stiff hips when turning to cover. Good blitzer, speed is a plus. Future Outlook: FBS/D2 LB

Jordan Cordova SS 6-2 205lbs

 

Big hitter. Listed as safety but built and plays like a linebacker. Very good speed and play recognition. Sure tackler. Defeats/sheds blocks. Future Outlook: D1/FBS LB

Devon Pauley WR 5-8 140lbs

 

Small stature but willing blocker. Good hands. Decent speed. Lined up mostly outside, probably will need to play slot at next level. Future Outlook: D2/D3 receiver

Sean White OL 6-3 300lbs

 

Very strong as a run blocker. Stiff movements on pass pro. Technique needs work. Slow off the snap but power helps make up for it. Future Outlook: D2 OL

Chandler Crawford DL 6-3 290lbs

 

Quick first step on snap. Demands a double team because of strength and quickness. Will need to learn to use hands better as competition gets better. Future Outlook: D2 DL

Mason Caldwell K 5-9 145lbs

 

Strong leg. Consistent touchbacks on kickoffs. Accurate on short/medium field goals.

Lamarcus Benton DL 5-9 215lbs

 

Short stature and quickness allows him to beat tackles around the edge. Strong enough to set the edge. Hand technique needs work. Future Outlook: D3 DL

Brayden Adams LS/LB 6-2 210lbs

 

Has good size for LB position. Hustles on all plays. Solid tackler. Needs to learn how to shed blocks more often. Good LS.

Jarden James DB 5-10 150lbs.

 

Physical against the run. Good blitzer from the slot. Play recognition is very good. Solid tackler. Has enough size/speed to cover. Future Outlook: D2 corner

Jacob Crawford SS 5-8 150lbs

 

Tough. Does a lot of the dirty work like setting the edge in the run game. Tackles well. Coverage techniques need work. Future Outlook: D3 Safety

Keandre Turner WR 6-3 200lbs

 

Good size and uses it to his advantage against DBs. Good hands. Catches the ball away from his body. Enough speed to get behind the defense. Good blocker. Future Outlook: FBS/D2 receiver

Jaivan Samuel RB 6-0 210lbs

 

Good strength and balance. Does not go down on first contact. Average speed. Good pass blocker. Can also catch out of the backfield. Future Outlook: FBS/D2 RB
