Football Closes Regular Season at SMU Saturday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane football hits the road to face SMU in the regular season finale on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. on CBS Sports Network.

ABOUT TULANE
•    Tulane looks to cap the season with its first three-game winning streak since winning four straight from Sept. 28-Oct. 26, 2013.
•     A win over SMU would make the Green Wave bowl eligible for the first time since the 2013 season when Tulane lost 24-21 to UL Lafayette in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
•     Tulane is 5-1 in 2017 and 7-1 under head coach Willie Fritz when leading at halftime.
•     Of the Green Wave’s 38 touchdowns scored so far this season, 19 have been with plays that went 20 yards or longer. The Green Wave’s seven longest plays have resulted in touchdowns – three rushing (75, 72, 58) and four passing (73, 64, 62, 62. Tulane has converted 59 plays on offense and special teams of 20 yards or longer.
•     The Green Wave enter the game ranked fourth in The American and 22nd nationally in rushing offense at 237.0 yards per game.
•    Tulane has rushed for 100 or more yards in 26 straight games, dating back to the final three games of the 2015 season.
•    The Green Wave are tied for second in The American and tied for 10th in the nation in turnovers lost with 10.
•    Tulane is second in The American and 13th in the nation in time of possession at 32:50.
•    Of Fritz’ 202 on-field victories, 65 have come on the NCAA Division I level (Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision).

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
•    SMU has scored a program-record 441 points and a season-record 57 total touchdowns this season.
•    Over the past 14 games, the Mustangs have averaged 39.6 points per game and 495.0 offensive yards per game. SMU has totaled 400+ offensive yards per game in 14 straight games, which is the third longest active streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision behind Oklahoma’s 23 and Oklahoma State’s 15.
•    SMU is fourth in The American and tied for 26th in the FBS with 7.0 tackles for loss per game.
•    Junior wide receiver Trey Quinn, one of 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, leads the nation with 9.1 receptions per game and is among the top in the country in receiving yards(10th, 1,052) and receiving yards per game (12th, 95.6).

SERIES NOTES
•     Tulane and SMU are meeting for the 24th time on the gridiron with the Green Wave leading the all-time series 13-10.
•    SMU has won five of the last six games in the series.
•    Tulane’s last win against SMU was a 27-26 home victory on Oct. 13, 2012.
•    Tulane’s last win against SMU in Dallas was a 41-34 overtime win on Oct. 20, 2007.
•    The two teams have split the 10 previous games played in Dallas.
•    Five of the last nine games in the series have been decided by seven points or less.
•    Tulane is looking for its eighth conference win as member of The American with its previous wins coming vs. UConn and at Houston in 2014, vs. UCF in 2015, at UConn in 2016 and vs. Tulsa, at ECU and vs. Houston in 2017.
