DITR: Preston Sentino

Many quarterbacks in the upcoming senior class of 2024 are looking to make a name for themselves this season, and Preston Sentino is in that conversation. Preston attends St. Michael the Archangel High School, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At 5’11 and 175 pounds, Sentino’s poise and breakaway speed are what put him above others in his class. He did damage to defenses last season as both a passer and a runner, with impressive stats in his three offensive starts as quarterback. He posted 10 total touchdowns in his three starts this past season. Preston attended our Elite Camp at Woodlawn High School this spring, and posted one of the fastest 40 yard dash times of the day at 4.54 seconds. Sentino also posts a 3.4 GPA with his studies.

What age were you when you started playing football and why have you continued to play it over the years?

“I started playing football when I was 4 and I’ve just always loved watching and playing. I love taking the felid with my teammates and Just having fun. A goal of mine for a while was to play college football so that’s why I keep playing because I love the game.”

What are your biggest strength as a quarterback??

“I think my biggest strength as a quarterback is my vision whether passing or running I feel as if I know where everyone is and where I need to put the ball.”

What would you describe as a good teammate?

“A good teammate pushes everyone to get better no matter how tired they are. A good teammate does whatever is needed to help the team win.”

What are the biggest things to improve on as a QB?

“The biggest thing I need to improve on is getting the ball out quicker, and that’s just about getting my timing down and throwing the ball on time.(Anticipating the throw instead of throwing when I see the wide receiver is open).”

How has the recruiting process been for you so far?

“The recruiting process has been slow so far, only getting 3 starts junior has slowed it down a little bit but I’m hitting a lot of camps this summer and hopefully after my senior season it starts to pick up.”

What are your goals for this upcoming season?

“My goals for this season is just to play great every game and gain some offers. We as a team definitely want a home playoff game this year and we want to make it to the dome.”

Why should a college recruit you? / What sets you apart from the other QBs in the state?

“A college would want me because I’m going to do whatever it takes for my team to be successful, when I get tired I’m still going to work hard and push my teammates to work hard.”

Is there a quarterback who you embody your game after or watch to get some inspiration?

“I’ve always been a cowboys fan so I look at Dak a lot and just seeing and reading about what he’s gone through in his life and what kind of guy he is on and off the field It’s very inspirational.”

Personally, what is your biggest strength as a teammate?

“My biggest strength as a teammate is my ability to change to help the team. Last season I moved around a bit and played a few games as FS and WR before getting the start at QB, all I want to do is play football and help the team win.”

Do you have a role model? If so, who is it and why?

“The biggest role model in my life has to be my dad. He has always pushed me to work my hardest. He would always come throw the football outside when I would ask and he would always tell me, ‘when you get tired you get lazy, so you need to focus on the little things when you get tired.’ “
