DITR: Landon Pike

Landon Pike is a class of 2022 SS/RB out of Opelousas Catholic High in Opelousas, LA. This 5’11, 185-pound athlete serves as a downhill, hard-hitting safety on the defensive side of the ball. He is strongest at locating the ball and pouncing on ball carriers. Landon can also line up at the RB position and break off long runs with his speed, vision, and ability to be elusive in the open field.

When did you start playing football?

I started playing little league when I was about 8 or 9.

Who are your biggest motivators for playing the game?

My step father. He always pushed me and encouraged me to play. He coached me when I was young and helped me out.

What players do you study to try and imitate a little of what they do?

I always liked Jamal Adams. The way he hits, always plays physical, and how he’s always around the ball.

How would you make a team at the next level better?

I’m always trying to get to the ball and make a play. I’m always hustling and I don’t take plays off.

What are your biggest strengths on the field?

Picking my teammates up when they’re down and encouraging them to forget and move on to the next play.

What are you looking forward to about getting to play in the bowl game?

I’m just excited to play one more high school game and to compete. Im going to play to the best of my ability.

What are some valuable lessons you’ve learned from playing the game of football?

You have to be ready to step up for your brothers on the field. You always have to have your team’s back.
