DITR: DL Ashton Bedford, St. Paul’s High School

As a defensive lineman for St. Pauls High School, Ashton Bradford is a powerful presence on the football field. He stands tall at 6’2″ and weighs 230 pounds. When Ashton started playing football in the seventh grade, it was obvious that he was destined for greatness. He pushes himself and his teammates to new limits with every practice and game.

But it’s not just Ashton’s physical strength that makes him stand out; it’s also his determination and leadership abilities. He is a natural leader both on and off the field because of his ability to bounce back from setbacks and persevere in the face of difficulty. Ashton received two awards from his school: the Freshman Coaches Award and the Outstanding Citizenship Award. The awards are evidence of his character.

Ashton is an extremely skilled defensive lineman. He is a real beast on the field with his ability to break plays, shed blockers, and cause havoc in the backfield. Without a doubt, Ashton Bedford will continue to make an impact on the gridiron as time goes on. With his unique combination of leadership, talent, and determination, this rising star has no limits.

How did you get started in football, and what inspired you to play the sport?

I got into football my 7th grade school year because all of my friends were playing and wanted to give it a shot.

Can you share a memorable moment or game that stands out in your football career so far?

A memorable moment for me was when I made varsity my freshman year.

What positions do you enjoy playing the most, and why?

I play defensive end. I enjoy playing it because I like to be the one hitting people and not the other way around.

How do you balance schoolwork and football during the season?

I balance schoolwork and football by asking my teachers for extra help and just doing my homework when I have it.

What aspects of your game do you feel you have improved upon the most since you started playing?

I have improved on not being afraid when I am going against someone bigger then me or has more experience.

What are your individual goals for the upcoming football season?

My goal is to be an all state and all district player.

Are there any professional football players you look up to, and if so, why?

Luke Kuechly because he had a different aspect of the game. He knows how to study plays and see the small things about the play that can help his team.

How do you stay motivated during practices and training sessions, especially when facing tough drills or exercises?

I stay motivated by leaning on my brothers physically and mentally seeing them go that extra mile pushes me to do it too.

What advice would you give to other young players?

Do not quit football. Football is the best sport to build long lasting relationships with your brothers and it’s worth it.

Aside from football, what is an interesting fact about you?

I love music.

Which college would you most like to play for?

A college I would like to play for is Tennessee or LSU.

What are your biggest strengths on the field?

My biggest strengths are speed and using my hands.

How has playing football impacted other areas of your life, such as academics and personal life?

It has changed my life because I hangout with my teammates all the time and they are my family.
