This past week, I had the pleasure of interviewing an incredible athlete from my high school alma mater. East St. John High school is located in Reserve, Louisiana and the Wildcats are no strangers to developing star athletes that continuously make it to the NFL. Defensive end, Kendrell Holmes may just be the next best thing to put the Wildcats on the map because he has that “it factor.” It is in these small cities that athletes like Kendrell realize they must work twice as hard to accomplish their dreams and put their best foot forward in the classroom as well as on the field.
Kendrell stands at 5’10 and weighs 176lbs. He benches 210lbs, squats 335lbs and deadlifts 235lbs. When I asked Kendrell why he play

When I asked Kendrell what helps him to be successful, he said “Studying! Education comes first, then football. On the field, I have to be aware of what the other team is capable of doing so I watch a lot of film and study the other team’s play formation.” Holmes dreams of playing college football out of state but of course if given the opportunity he would love to attend and play for Louisiana State University. In college, Kendrell wants to study criminal justice which will prepare him to land his dream job as a FBI agent one day. With Kendr
I asked Holmes if there was any football player he looks up to, he answered, “That’s easy LSU’s Xavier Lewis! He’s like a brother to me and he played for East St. John as well. Lewis is the hardest working person I’ve ever known and just from working out with him I’ve learned so much. I always wanted to be like him and hopefully better than him one day.”
Once again, it was a pleasure interviewing such a talented and goal driven young man like Kendrell Holmes. For him, the sky is the limit and if he keeps putting in work on and off of the field everything he wants in life is his to gain. Watch out for Kendrell Holmes!
