Diamond in the Rough: Cayden Reynolds

Cayden Reynolds is a 5’11” 170 lbs. kicker for Alexandria High School in Alexandria, Louisiana. Cayden bench presses 225 lbs. and squats 315 lbs. Cayden has an offer to kick from Louisiana College. Cayden made the only FG during the 2018 LGF All-Star Bowl game.

How long have you been playing football and what got you started?

Well, I played soccer my whole life. I never really thought about playing football until half-way through my junior year, when football coaches came and got me from a soccer practice and asked me to come kick. I was very skeptical about it at first, but I’ve been playing for about a year and a half now doing kickoffs for the team.

What has football taught you about life?

Soccer and football are so different. The thing I like about football is the bond you create with every one of the players. It teaches you that there is a way out. You can always work hard to be the best you can every day on and off the field.

Where do you see football taking you in the future?

People tell me that I can go to the NFL if I get the right coaching to teach me, because my game is raw. If I got the right coaching and situation, I guess I could see myself going to the league.

What is the strong point of your game?

I would have to say kickoffs. The coaches originally wanted someone to come in and kick it out of the back of the end zone. As a 170 lbs. guy I can’t imagine how far I’ll be kicking once I begin working out with a college program.

What will you bring to a college program that makes you special?

I would say leadership. I guess it is hard to say because I’m a kicker, but coming from a soccer background, I’ve always been the guy that works the hardest. I’ve always wanted to be the best I can be not only to better myself but to better those around me.

Is there a player at the college or professional level that you model your game after?

Chris Boniol, a former Dallas Cowboys kicker. We went to the same high school, and he is one of only four guys to make it to the NFL from my high school, so I’m hoping to be another one.
