Denham Springs 2024 Four Star Safety DaShawn McBryde Commits To LSU

This past weekend, LSU’s 2024 recruiting class got a big boost as a Gridiron Football Top 300 product has committed to play for the Tigers in Denham Spring safety DaShawn McBryde. At 6’2, 200 pounds with 4.49/40 speed and a 34 inch vertical, McBryde is one of the top players at his position as he is rated as a top five player in the state of Louisiana. The District Defensive MVP’s recruiting has skyrocketed up and after a visit to LSU decided to stay home and represent the boot.

“I just really like the culture and what Coach Kelly has to offer for me there and that just really set it for me.”

LSU has always been the talented defensive back’s dream school, but after receiving the offer from LSU, McBryde decided to take part in the recruiting process and visit other schools. However, after going through the process, he knew that home was the best place to be.

“Although it was my dream school, I didn’t want to jump to the conclusion that they would just take. I wanted to feel how they would treat me and how it was like and once I saw everything I had seen, I knew it was the right choice for me.”

The star Yellow Jackets safety is coming off a dominant junior season where he had 49 tackles, two forced fumbles, and made offenses pay when throwing towards fhim reeling in nine interceptions including two which were returned for touchdowns. The Denham Springs ball magnet wants to continue to do what he does best once he arrives on campus while continuing the very strong tradition of DBU at LSU.

“It would be a blessing for me to continue the legacy of LSU’s DBU and that’s really my mindset as to when I go there and play.”

With his length, ball skills, and athleticism, McBryde has all the intangibles necessary to thrive in the SEC.

“The best part of my game is my length and my ability to see the field and also come down into the box.”

“The coaches compared me to Kyle Hamilton, which I totally agree. We both are long, strong, and both have similar body builds.”

Those skills all transfer positively in defensive coordinator Matt House’s system.

“Knowing what Coach House has done, I know that I’m in good hands and I’m sure that he will create a monster of a defense and help the family win another natty.”

With McBryde committing to LSU, he is now focused on improving on his game even more for his senior season at Denham Springs where he is focusing more on getting more physical and not giving so much space to his opponent. Still, he wants LSU fans to know that when he eventually arrives on campus, they will be getting the best version of him.

“I think they should be excited because they are getting in my opinion an all-around safety.”

Dashawn McBryde is LSU’s 13th commitment in the 2024 class, but is also the first safety commit in the class as well. Right now, LSU has a top five class and McBryde would love nothing more to be one of the signees that leads a potential number one overall class.

“My message is to just look at how successful LSU is. If you take a look at other colleges, you don’t really see their former players coming back and enjoying the culture. You can really see the impact LSU has had on all their athletes from basketball to baseball to football.”
