Baton Rouge, LA- The Crusaders 1st possession was impressive as they drove 75 yards to score. Bruce Jordan-Swilling ran the ball aggressively before scoring a 1-yard rushing touchdown. The extra point attempt was blocked but the kicker picked it up and made an athletic play to salvage 2 points. The Crusaders go ahead 8-0.
Things were relatively quiet for the rest of the 1st half until Brother Martin recovered a fumble on a punt. The Crusaders were not too successful in the air but Jordan-Swilling was running all over the Bears defense. He scored on a 3-yard rushing touchdown to bring the score to 14-0 after a missed extra point attempt.
As the 2nd half began, Jordan-Swilling took off on a 49-yard rushing touchdown. He now has three touchdowns on the night and Catholic High has no answers for the power back as he busted through the middle untouched. The Crusaders take a comfortable 21-0 lead.
Brother Martin’s defense was solid all 1st half and was proving to be so in the 2nd half as well as they held the Bears scoreless through the entire game. The special teams were contributing as well as each punt was successfully caught and returned for positive yardage. The Crusaders would score one more touchdown on the night after driving down the field 81 yards. Brother Martin defeats the reigning State Champions Catholic High 28-0 and moves on to the Semi-Finals.
