It was the first nice night in Baton Rouge, LA, the perfect temperature for some high school football. The Northeast High Vikings (Pride, LA) came into Baton Rouge to battle the home team, the Belaire Bengals. When I talked to Belaire HC Byron Wade this week, he said this was going to be a physical, smashmouth football game, and it was an exciting one under the Friday Night Lights, and Gridiron Football was there to give you the highlights and analysis.
The game started off with Northeast High recovering their own kickoff. They then went three and out and turned the ball over on downs. The first half was a defensive battle, as the teams traded blows and pieced together some decent drives, but they all sputtered out. IN the second half, the Belaire offense started humming behind big runs from RB Denichlass Jeter and QB Lecoreyan Compton, and the defense shut down the Northeast offense, forcing turnovers and a red zone stop. The score was 16-0 with 1 minute left in the game, and Northeast scored a touchdown to give them a chance, but missed the 2 point conversion. Here are the highlights:
Come out to Belaire’s next game vs. Central High School at Central High School in Central, LA.
